Love is Latin

The origin of Man is She
Who with her lovely feet
Breathed life into our veins and nerves
And made our limbs complete
She says her Love is Latin—
And she believes in Love

When minds are gripped with fire and flame
And ancient towers fallen
A shepherd in a land of yore
Yields all to its calling
He says his Love is Latin—
And he believes in Love

Captured now her eyes will taunt
Her servant on his knees
Who serves to please this dominant heart
The one the grave released
She says her Love is Latin—
And she believes in Love

At parties high society
A game is not a pact
And promised sex will entertain
A boy but not a man
He says his Love is Latin—
And he believes in Love

The fickle gods can always change
Our bodies if they choose
By chance they meet us and desire us
You know it’s us who lose
They say their Love is Latin—
And they believe in Love

I read these poets carefully
But did not understand
The depth—no—the height of loving
Til you gave me your hand.
I know my Love is Latin—
And that’s why I love you
